YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group BLACKPINK is setting a series of new records, taking No.1 on Gaon chart for three consecutive weeks.
As of September 1 at 11AM, “WHISTLE”, one of the double title tracks of BLACKPINK’s debut single “SQUARE ONE”, is in No.1 on the streaming chart and mobile chart of Gaon Chart for the 35th week of 2016 (August 21 to August 27). With such record, BLACKPINK has proven their unbelievably big influence within only one month of debut.
BLACKPINK has already proven their “long-run popularity” by taking No.1 on two charts of Gaon for the 33rd week and on three charts of Gaon for the 34th week.
Furthermore, BLACKPINK swept No.1 on the real-time, daily, and weekly charts of major music-streaming websites in Korea. They also took No.1 on iTunes charts of 14 foreign countries, No.1 and No.2 on American Billboard’s world digital songs chart, No.1 and No.2 on Chinese QQ Music’s weekly chart, and “Top 10” on British Amazon’s “Hot New Release” chart. BLACKPINK also took their first No.1 in a TV show in SBS “INKIGAYO” within 14 days of debut, the shortest-ever period of time for a girl group. As such, BLACKPINK is continuing to write unprecedented new records for a rookie girl group.
