The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ became the fastest MV to hit 30 million views among K-Pop girl-groups.
As of today (16th) at 4:53 PM, the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ from BLACKPINK’s first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ reached 30 million views on YouTube, in 23 hours since the song was released.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ set another milestone after surpassing 10 million views in 6 hours and 20 million views in 13 hours.
But that was not all. ‘SQUARE UP’ achieved no. 1 spots on iTunes Album Charts in 44 different countries, writing another record among K-Pop girl-groups.
‘SQUARE UP’ topped charts in countries including Armenia, Austria, Bahrain, Bolivia, Brunei, Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Chile, Denmark, Fiji, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
Records from YouTube and iTunes serve as indexes that objectively represent global recognition and popularity. The results turned out positive for BLACKPINK.
BLACKPINK’s explosive popularity is also present in Korea. Following their domination of real-time charts in the morning, they achieved another ‘all-kill’ on daily charts, continuing their no. 1 march.
Today (16th), BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ topped 7 daily music charts including Mnet, Naver Music, Bugs, Olleh, Genie, Soribada, and Melon, which is Korea’s largest music platform.
To repay the love and support by fans, YG Entertainment revealed the making of the MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ through Naver TV, today at 11 AM.
The members explained, “’DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is a track which the fans can experience BLACKPINK’s fiercer performances and charms”. They also expressed their gratitude by adding, “We practiced for a long time. Our lovely fans, ‘Blink’, thank you for waiting”.
After performing on music broadcasts including MBC ‘Show! Music Core’ on the 16th and SBS ‘Inkigayo’ on the 17th, BLACKPINK will also appear on variety programs including JTBC ‘Idol Room’ on the 23rd.
