BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ became the 2nd most viewed MV in 24 hours on YouTube.
According to UK Metro on July 5 (local time), “BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ became the 2nd most viewed MV in 24 hours in the world, second to Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do”.
Billboard also introduced BLACKPINK’s new record by stating, “After setting milestones after releasing their first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ on June, BLACKPINK won another honor. They became the Korean artist group with the MV that accumulated the most views in 24 hours on YouTube”.
They added, “The title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 36.2 million views in 24 hours, which is the best record among MVs released in 2018”, highlighting BLACKPINK’s remarkable achievement.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 100 million views in 10 days and 5 hours since its release, re-writing all time related records previously held by other girl groups. As of July 6, 21 days after its release, the video is heading towards 150 million views.
BLACKPINK established themselves as a global girl group with their album ‘SQUARE UP’. The set milestones as a K-Pop girl group by debuting at Billboard’s main charts including the ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘Hot 100’ as no. 40 and no. 55, respectively.
Foreign press including the economy journal ‘Forbes’, also highlighted BLACKPINK’s global success. In Korea, the group is maintaining their no. 1 spot in major music charts for 22 days.
