Major press channels in Japan gave positive reviews on BLACKPINK’s arena tour.
On August 24 (local time), BLACKPINK held the ‘BLACKPINK ARENA TOUR 2018’ in Japan’s Makuhari Messe Event Hall. The Japanese version of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ was performed for the first time during the concert. The fans who filled up the hall cheered and showed support on BLACKPINK’s performance, more than ever.
Well-known press channels from Japan were also heated up, and headlined newspapers with positive reviews towards BLACKPINK today (25th).
Sports Nippon wrote, “BLACKPINK leaves a hole on 9,000 hearts of fans”. They added, “The best Japan tour by a K-Pop group surpassing TWICE”. Nikkan Sports headlined, “The first Japan tour by BLACKPINK, the popular K-Pop group with over 300 million views on YouTube”. Daily Sports and Tokyo Junichi Sports wrote, “BLACKPINK fascinates 9,000 fans in their first Japan tour”. All 6 major sports newspapers in Japan including Sankei Sports and Sports Hochi wrote about BLACKPINK’s tour news.
Also, Fuji TV’s comprehensive information program titled ‘Mezamashi TV’ and Nihon TV’s ‘Zoom-In!! Saturday’ covered the live scenes from BLACKPINK’s concert, proving the high level of attention towards the group in Japan.
Starting with their concert in Osaka-ji Hall held from July 24~25 and their concert in Fukuoka International Center held from August 16~17, BLACKPINK proved their high popularity by selling all tickets as soon as they became available. Despite being an additional concert, tickets for their latest concert in Makuhari Messe were also sold out. BLACKPINK will perform their finale concert of their tour on December 24 in Kyocera Dome, Osaka.
At the end of the concert, JENNIE stated, “Everyone, we’re having our first dome concert in Kyocera Dome, Osaka on December 24, Christmas Eve. Let’s meet again in Osaka” in Japanese, grabbing the fans’ attention.
Also, it was announced that BLACKPINK was selected as the partner to celebrate the 45th year anniversary of KITKAT’s release in Japan. They raised the fans’ curiosities by noticing a special event on September 18.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ became the fastest MV released by a K-Pop idol group to surpass 300 million views on the 23rd, by reaching the figure in 68 days since its release. The new record shortened the previous record by 100 days, proving BLACKPINKs massive influence and popularity.
