Yes. It’s that time of the year again! It’s the season of awards shows and year end festivals! This 2017, BLACKPINK presented us ‘As If It’s Your Last’ which broke numerous records and achieved relative digital success. Also, ‘Playing with Fire’, another still-charting BLACKPINK song released in November of 2016, may still be eligible in some awards show. With these, we believe the girls will at least get nominations and attend some of these events. BLACKPINK has made it big on the global stage.
On September 7, Billboard announced its list of YouTube’s Top 25 Songs of the Summer. BLACKPINK’s “As If It’s Your Last” was on the list, proving the group’s popularity.
Other artists on the list are Luis Fonsi, who music video posted three billion views for the first time in the history of YouTube, and Ed Sheeran, who was on Billboard’s top 10 singles chart for the longest time.
BLACKPINK’s Japan debut album became No.1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart.
According to Oricon, BLACKPINK’s self-titled debut mini album in Japan sold 39,000 copies, putting the album at first place on Oricon’s CD Albums Chart.
This is the third time that the debut album of a foreign act topped the Oricon Weekly Chart. Only the Russian duet t.A.T.u. and BLACKPINK’s labelmate 2NE1 hold the same record.
BLACKPINK has taken the No.1 spot on Oricon charts for two days in a row.
As of August 31, BLACKPINK’s Japan debut mini album “BLACKPINK” took the No.1 spot on Oricon’s Daily CD Albums chart once again, proving the group’s huge popularity.
On the day of the album’s release, as much as 21,583 copies were sold, putting the album at the No.1 spot on Oricon charts. Afterwards, 5914 additional copies were sold, making the album become No.1 once again.
Billboard published an article about BLACKPINK’s past year, calling it “the remarkable first year of achievements”.
On August 11, Billboard wrote an article about BLACKPINK’s chart records that started off with “To celebrate the one-year mark from their show-stopping debut on Aug. 7, 2016 with the double singles ‘Bumbaya’ and ‘Whistle’ to today, let’s break down the remarkable first year of achievements.”
The music video of BLACKPINK’s “As If It’s Your Last” has surpassed 90 million views, to renew the record of the biggest number of views within the shortest period of time for a K-pop group.
The music video of BLACKPINK’s “As If It’s Your Last” surpassed 90 million views today (Aug. 1) at 1:35AM. The number was reached within 39 days and seven hours (943 hours) of the video’s release.
The Korean Business Research Institute revealed their November brand reputation rankings for singers. Their findings are based on 86,156,392 pieces of data collected from June 20 to July 21 of 2017. The data measures various indexes including participation (brands the celebrity has participated in/product consumption), media (media marketing worth), communication (ability to communicate with public) , and community (community’s perception of them/social marketing worth) to determine their brand reputation.
