G-DRAGON did not forget to send his support for his labelmates BLACKPINK although he was on vacation on Jeju Island.

On August 9, G-DRAGON posted several photos and videos on his Instagram page.

There was a photo of G-DRAGON with another man, who is most likely to be SEUNGRI, in the sea with starfishes on their faces. He also posted a video of dolphins that he saw while he was sailing on a boat.

But the most impressive thing was G-DRAGON’s love for his labelmates. He posted a video of BIGBANG members driving carts, and the background music was BLACKPINK’s “WHISTLE”.

G-DRAGON had promoted BLACKPINK even when he was on a world tour. Since he is a global star with more than 10 million followers, G-DRAGON’s Instagram page is an effective promotion tool with an impact that matches the impact of YG’s all promotion means.

BLACKPINK’s debut singles “BOOMBAYA” and “WHISTLE” posted 100,0000 views in just a day after their release, and “WHISTLE” is currently dominating the charts.

G-DRAGON’s support played a part in the success of BLACKPINK’s debut. The situation is different from when 2NE1 debuted in 2009, but G-DRAGON’s support for his labelmates remains the same.

BIGBANG star G-Dragon looks set to pen two songs for YG Entertainment’s new, as-yet-unnamed girl group. G-Dragon has previously exhibited his song-writing skills on BIGBANG releases, as well as his own solo material, but media sources are now widely reporting that he will be lending his talents to YG’s new project.

It also seems that YG has enlisted the talents of its main producer, Teddy (also known as Teddy Park) to work with the group’s debut release. Teddy has previously produced a slew of hits for the likes of 2NE1, BIGBANG and Seven.

As of yet, only two members of the new group have been unveiled: Kim Jisoo and Jennie Kim, who have appeared in G-Dragon and Epik High music videos.

Although the new YG girl group has been in the pipelines for several years now, recent reports have surfaced suggesting that the group is now “recording its debut” and could be unveiled as early as November this year.

[NEWS] 130910 The Making of G-Dragon’s "COUP D’ ETAT" – "BLACK" featuring Kim Jennie

“Black” feat. Jennie Kim
Produced by: Teddy

Teddy: “That’s been in my computer for two years. The original version has me rapping on the first verse and Lydia singing on the hook. I liked it, and I wanted to keep it for myself, since it was very personal. But then GD heard it one day, and went, “Oh, shit. Let me get on this.” [Laughs.]

When you have a girlfriend, there are many things that are irritating every day, every night. When you fight, it gets really annoying. You can’t do anything, so you end up just getting angry by yourself. Like punching the wall, or throwing your cell phone across the room. – G-Dragon

G-Dragon: “It’s a love song; it’s a bit more personal. When you have a girlfriend, there are many things that are irritating every day, every night. I’m sure it’s different for everyone, but when you fight, it gets really annoying. You can’t do anything, so you end up just getting angry by yourself. Like punching the wall, or throwing your cell phone across the room. You know those types of feelings.”

Teddy: “As soon as he took it, he did the second verse. I thought it was going to be hard for him to write the second verse and stay on topic, since the record’s so vague and personal. But surprisingly he nailed it.

“Like ‘R.O.D.’ the hook was a process. Sky Ferreira recorded a version. Lydia had the original version in English. Then the boss came in, and pointed out that this song needs to be bigger, and said we should make a Korean version of the hook. So GD and I wrote the hook one day, and I recorded Jennie myself two days later. I don’t know much about Jennie’s personal information, but YG recommended that she’d be perfect for the song. Jennie heard Lydia’s demo like 10 times, and we recorded her version of the hook in less than five days before the album dropped.”

[YG-LIFE] 130908 YG’s newbie Jennie Kim makes surprise appearance on Inkigayo with G-DRAGON

G-DRAGON, who is dominating the South Korean music market since his release of 2nd regular album, delivered a comeback performance on SBS’s Inkigayo on Sept 8.

He performed 3 songs in total including ‘Niliria’, ‘Black’, and ‘Go’, all of which are unveiled on television for the first time.

But what aroused much attention is YG’s upcoming new girl group member Jennie Kim who appeared on stage with him to feature in one of the songs.

Jennie Kim featured in ‘Black’, while last year she acted in GD’s ‘That xx’ music video. She is just 17. Every time her photograph was revealed to the public, her foreign look brought much excitement. And on the day of GD’s comeback on Inkigayo, she made her first television appearance.

Meanwhile, G-DRAGON adopted a unique promotional method where he not only reveals the title songs of the new album but also the entire track list.

His album is essentially a work of perfection as all of the songs are being listed from rank #1 to 10 on major music charts. As he devoted a year worth of time in the album, he is shifting his focus on promoting the entire album instead of just one song.

On next week’s Inkigayo, he will be showcasing the already beloved ‘Crooked’, which is an epitome of his charms.

On Sept 10, G-DRAGON’s first ever exhibition ‘G-DRAGON SPACE 8’ will be launched at Cais Gallery in Cheongdam-dong, which will display his photographs including the unrevealed ones, along with outfits and props used for World Tour.

Anyone who owns a paid-ticket to his solo World Tour Final Concert on Aug 31 and Sept 1, and who holds the entrance ticket enclosed in his 2nd regular album will be allowed to enter the gallery.

On Sept 13, he will be releasing his 2nd regular album offline, which includes different versions of ‘Window’ and ‘Black’.
